WEST MIFFLIN, Pa. — A West Mifflin man remains in the Allegheny County Jail on charges of sex offenses against children in several locations, including McKeesport, Pitcairn and Westmoreland County.
Andrew Demeri, 24, was scheduled to go before Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas President Judge Jeffrey A. Manning for a preliminary hearing Sept. 28.
That hearing was postponed at the defense’s request to 12:30 p.m. Friday, according to a Pittsburgh Municipal Court official.
Online court documents state Demeri was unable to post $100,000 bond.
Allegheny County police said Sept. 21 they do not believe Demeri, an emergency medical technician with a Washington County ambulance service, engaged in the alleged sexual assaults while on the job.
He is charged with two counts each of rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, unlawful contact with a minor, indecent assault, endangering the welfare of children, corruption of minors and indecent exposure, police said.
Demeri was arrested Sept. 20 while working.
Authorities did not identify the ambulance service.
McKeesport police originally handled the investigation, but turned the matter over to county police when they discovered the sex offenses involved multiple jurisdictions.
