CARMEL, Ind. — A little boy in Carmel has big dreams of becoming a firefighter someday. At 6 years old, Matthew Wheeler is almost there.
“I love firefighters because I love the equipment, the flashing lights, and the trucks,” Matthew said during an interview through an American Sign Language Interpreter.
A few weeks ago, with some help from his dad Joe Wheeler, Matthew decided to pay the Carmel Fire Department a visit. He delivered some treats, but also taught them important words in sign language like “firefighter,” “interpreter,” and “stop, drop and roll.”
