BELMONT, Calif. — A nanny was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after she crashed through a fence at Cipriani Elementary School and hit an 11-year-old boy Monday, police said.

Paramedics treated the boy at the scene and took him to a hospital with injuries that were not considered life threatening, police said. An update on his condition was not immediately available early Tuesday.

Just after 3 p.m., police received several 911 calls about a car that had hit a student at Cipriani Elementary School, located at 2525 Buena Vista Ave.

Officers and firefighters who responded to the scene found a Toyota Corolla had driven through a fence and struck a student before coming to a rest near the school building.

The driver, identified as Evgeniya Martynova, is a nanny who had come to the school to pick up another student, police said. Neither she nor an infant in her car was injured in the crash.

Martynova was booked into San Mateo County Jail on charges of driving under the influence and child endangerment, police said.
