REYNOLDSBURG, Ohio — A Reynoldsburg babysitter could be sentenced to as many as 17 years in prison after pleading guilty Monday to causing the overdose death of an 8-month-old boy by giving him an adult dose of Benadryl.

Lori A. Conley, 44, pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter, child endangering and tampering with evidence in the death of Haddix Mulkey.

Conley called 911 on May 13, 2016, to report that the child wasn’t breathing. The boy died after being taken from her home in the 1400 block of Hammond Road to Nationwide Children’s Hospital.

An autopsy determined that the child died of an overdose of Benadryl, an antihistamine. Conley admitted to police that she gave the child two adult-strength pills, hoping to make him sleep.

She will be sentenced on Sept. 5 by Franklin County Common Pleas Judge Julie M. Lynch.
