Carrie Smitherman Takemori, 25, owes her life to rural paramedics, because her life almost ended on Pea Ridge in Shelby County when she was 10 years old.
Takemori’s skull was severely fractured in an automobile accident and she stopped breathing. Paramedics on the scene started an IV and put a tube down her throat to open her airway.
“I wouldn’t be here today if it weren’t for them,” the Montevallo woman said.
