HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. — Jennie Stuart Health is offering crisis pay for an EMT-P role in the critical care ICU/PCU of its Hopkinsville, Kentucky, hospital.
According to the listing, the position will provide direct patient care and monitoring, “to ensure patients receive accurate, quality, culturally compliant, safe care in an efficient manner.”
“Initially, I thought the pay rate of $75/hour for a paramedic must be a typo,” Greg Friese, EMS1 editorial director said. “But during the pandemic, healthcare systems need to look to paramedics to provide high-quality patient care and match the urgent need to fill open positions with an eye-popping hourly wage.”
The EMT-P will collaborate with the existing multidisciplinary team that determines priorities of care based on the patient’s age and their physical, psychosocial, cognitive and emotional needs, while quickly communicating and responding to changes in condition or response to treatment.
To be eligible, applicants must have a high school diploma or GED; have graduated a certified paramedicine program; and have current Kentucky EMT-P, BLS, ACLS and PALS certification. One year of experience as an EMT-P, CCP-C or FP-C is preferred.
