AURORA, Colo. — The team of paramedic Joey De Anda and EMT Adam Yoder won top honors at American Medical Response’s sixth annual national competition on Aug. 23.
Teams of AMR EMS providers from across the U.S. competed in a scenario-based competition testing their clinical care and safety skills. The Santa Barbara, Calif., team took the title “Best of AMR.”
“We are ecstatic that Joey and Adam brought home the top honors,” said Doug Petrick, AMR Santa Barbara general manager.
AMR operations from around the country hosted preliminary competitions to choose the national finalists. AMR teams from California, Colorado, Connecticut, Massachusetts and Oregon competed in the final competition. These teams were judged on their proficiency in EMS safety, clinical knowledge, skill and abilities; including professional operation of emergency vehicles, gurney lifting technique and patient care.
“By bringing many of the best clinicians of AMR together at a fun and competitive event, we hope to raise awareness about the importance of quality emergency medical response and transport,” said Ron Thackery, AMR senior vice president of professional services and integration. “We are committed to providing quality patient care in a safe environment 24/7.”
