LAKOTA, N.D. — A former ambulance service employee faces 24 charges after allegedly embezzling over $31,000.
Tamra Dae Bulik, 52, was charged in August 2016 with 22 counts of forgery, one count of misapplication of entrusted property and one count of deceptive writings.
An investigation found that Bulik wrote checks out to herself and forged multiple documents. She used the money to pay herself for excessive holidays and weeks of employment, reported the Bismark Tribune.
Bulik was hired by Lakota Ambulance Service in 2014 and was responsible for handling the agency’s financials. When questioned about discrepancies and paychecks she cashed, Bulik said it was a mistake and that she had a gambling problem; she was terminated March 1, 2016.
Bulik’s trial will begin Tuesday. She faces up to 10 years in prison and up to $20,000 in fines.
