WETHERSFIELD, Conn. — A former ambulance association chief was charged with stealing over $100,000 this week.
Former Wethersfield Volunteer Ambulance Association Chief Philip J. Lombardo, 48, was charged with first-degree larceny after being accused of using the company’s credit and debit cards. Police allege Lombardo used the funds for personal expenses between 2011 and 2016, reported NBC Connecticut.
An investigation found that in 2011, Lombardo spent around $12,000 in funeral expenses for his brother and niece — and included transactions for hotel rooms, memorial dinners, obituaries and payments at churches and cemeteries. He was terminated from his position June 2016.
Lombardo is scheduled to appear in court March 27.
