MCFARLAND, Wis. — Emergency medical services departments and other officials who have been discussing a possible regional EMS system will outline their proposal tonight at a meeting of elected officials from neighboring communities.
The session at 7 p.m. in the McFarland Village Hall, 5915 Milwaukee St., is the first of two planned by EMS specialists to present their ideas to representatives of interested communities, officials said. In theory, a regional system combining several community EMS systems could provide faster and less costly service to all communities involved.
Discussions of possible collaboration have been conducted informally since early this year among officials from McFarland, Maple Bluff, Monona, the town of Madison-Oregon area, town of Blooming Grove and Deerfield-Cottage Grove EMS units.
