A proposed county ordinance that would regulate ambulance operations in Crawford County has caused a stir with officials in the medical and emergency services community.
The Crawford County Board of Commissioners are studying a proposed emergency medical services ordinance.
A portion of the state’s Public Health Code allows municipalities to establish ordinances to establish procedures for ground medical transportation and ambulance services in order to ensure reliable, timely and effective medical transportation services
The ordinance, which is being pushed by Beaver Creek Township Fire Chief Ed Holtcamp, says that the quality and reliability of the services will be enhanced if the ambulance contractor is offered an exclusive contract to furnish both emergency and non-emergency patient transportation. ...
