Paramedic program gets grant

A 1977 fire gutted an insurance company’s downtown Baltimore offices and claimed the life of a city firefighter.

Nearly three decades later, the firm, now in Towson, has joined with the Fireman’s Fund insurance company to provide a $30,000 grant to Baltimore City to supplement its Paramedic Bike Team program.

“If it was not for the efforts of the Baltimore City Fire Department, our business might not have made it,” said Mark Counselman, 32, of Oakenshawe, who works for Riggs, Counselman, Michaels and Downes Inc. ...
