HARBOR SPRINGS, Mich. — A paramedic collapsed and died Saturday on-duty at an emergency room at a hospital in Michigan while preparing a patient for transport.
Two of Merlin Sayan’s colleagues attempted to resuscitate him, but he was later declared dead, according to Petoskey News.
The 63-year-old worked as a paramedic for more than 30 years, working as a quality assurance coordinator and paramedic for both Allied EMS and Kalkaska EMS in Michigan.
Sayan was instrumental in getting the Lifelink system up and running for Allied EMS, according to the article.
His funeral was held on Wednesday. It was preceded by a large procession attended by ambulance, fire, and police personnel from around Northern Michigan, according to the article.
