Mass. nurse, former EMT dead at 69

GROTON, Mass. — Jane Louise Luth, 69, a Groton resident who was a nurse at Emerson Hospital in Concord, died Friday, June 30, at her home.

She was born in Providence, R.I., Aug. 3, 1936, daughter of the late Edward T. and Lucille A. (Kennedy) Ferguson of Newport, R.I. She was raised in Newport, R.I., where she was active with the Girl Scouts of America and the Trinity Church. She graduated from Rogers High School in 1955.

Mrs. Luth was a registered nurse and completed her training at the New England Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing in 1959.

During her nursing career, Mrs. Luth worked at Lowell General Hospital, St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua, the Groton-Dunstable school system and retired from Emerson Hospital in Concord.

During the mid-1970s, she was an emergency medical technician and was active with Groton EMS.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, William D. Luth Jr. and Patricia C. Luth of Woodstock, Vt., and Michael F. and Jennifer L. Luth of Lunenburg; two grandchildren, Aidan and Mackenzie of Lunenburg.

She was also the sister of the late Gail Girouard of Bourne, Catherine Roberts of Miami Beach, and Edward “Ted” Ferguson of Huntington Beach, Calif.
