SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Formal charges have been filed against a South Bend paramedic accused of stealing Fentanyl, according to WSBT.com.

WSBT.com reported that Lt. Timothy Greenlee, 38, was arrested over the weekend after an audit found the highly addictive form of morphine missing from an ambulance.

The St. Joseph County prosecutor’s office filed criminal charges yesterday of theft and official misconduct against Greenlee, according to WSBT.com. These offenses are class D felonies and have a sentencing range of 6 months to 3 years.

South Bend Fire Chief Steve Cox said department investigators were able to identify a suspect quickly because of systems that are in place to regulate narcotics used for patients, according to WSBT.com.

Greenlee was placed on administrative leave on Sunday and was released from jail today, according to WSBT.com

“This insures that this individual will not be performing patient care or firefighting duties in the public trust,” said Cox. “It is incredibly important to the fire department this trust is completely preserved in order for the citizens of South Bend to remain confident in the level of service that is expected of us.”

This investigation is currently ongoing and Greenlee is charged with theft and official misconduct, according to WBST.com.
