CUMBERLAND, R.I. — A Cumberland paramedic accused of stealing town property and selling it over the Internet has been given probation.
Lt. Thomas Heaney was arrested in May for allegedly selling rescue equipment through the online auction house eBay.
A Superior Court judge sentenced Heaney to five years probation on Thursday. He would serve prison time if he violates his probation, according to Michael Healey, a spokesman for the state attorney general’s office.
