INDIANAPOLIS — A police officer and paramedic rescued a dog who was shot in the face and doused in bleach.
FOX59 reported that the dog, nicknamed “Winks,” was doused in bleach to possibly cover up any DNA from his owner. The dog, according to Detective Stephen Fippen, will require surgery to remove his eye after being shot in the face.
The dog was taken in by Metro police officer Tim Elliot and his wife, Tiffany, a Wayne Township paramedic.
Detective Fippen said Officer Elliot was working when he came across the “poor little guy who was left for dead.”
The surgery will cost about $1,600, along with other expenses. A GoFundMe page was created to raise money for Winks.
“I can’t think of a worthier cause than to help out two heroes who put their lives on the line every day and who are so compassionate they couldn’t let Winks suffer anymore,” Fippen wrote on the fundraising page.
