OKLAHOMA CITY — A field amputation was performed in Oklahoma City on a worker who became caught in a machine Thursday.
The man, who was working for an iron company in the city, got his hand caught in a conveyer belt at the worksite and could not be freed, according to KFOR. A doctor was called in to perform the amputation, removing the man’s arm approximately up to the shoulder.
Video from the scene showed Oklahoma City firefighters using an aerial apparatus to access the patient. The patient was transported by Emergency Medical Services Authority (EMSA).
