DALLAS — A woman was arrested Sunday in Louisiana after she was found driving a stolen Dallas Fire-Rescue ambulance, officials said.

The ambulance was reported stolen from a station in East Dallas around 4:17 p.m., according to DFR spokesman Jason Evans. The discovery was made after the vehicle was assigned to a 911 call, and medics noticed it was missing when they went to drive it.

Officials were able to track the ambulance as it traveled east into Louisiana. Police in Bossier City found the unit and brought the woman who was driving it into custody, officials said.

DFR is in the process of recovering the ambulance and bringing it back into service as soon as possible, Evans said.

The driver was not identified.
