MORRISTOWN — A Morristown Ambulance Squad ambulance transporting a patient to the Morristown Medical Center collided with a Honda sedan at about 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2 on Route 53, injuring the driver of the Honda.

According to Morris Plains Police Detective Sgt. Jason Kohn, the Honda was attempting to turn left at the intersection of Pfizer South, a private road, and Route 53 South just when the ambulance, traveling north on Route 53, hit with the driver side of the Honda.

The crash folded the hood and crumpled the front passenger-side corner of the ambulance.

The front driver-side panel, windshield and driver door of the Honda sustained even more damage, police said.

Emergency respondents on the scene had to cut the driver’s side door off to extricate her from the vehicle.
