ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A drunk college student stole an ambulance for a brief joy ride before crashing it and getting arrested Thursday morning.
Democrat and Chronicle reported that the Rural Metro Ambulance had responded on the University of Rochester campus shortly after 1 a.m. to treat an intoxicated male. While the crew helped the man, 22-year-old Robert Cordaro Jr. jumped in the ambulance and drove away.
He made it about a quarter-mile before “leaving the roadway and getting stuck in a flower bed,” according to the report.
The ambulance was damaged and had to be towed away.
Cordaro Jr. was charged with grand larceny, criminal mischief, DWI and numerous vehicle and traffic violations.
