STREETERVILLE, Ill. — For up to 18 hours Saturday, ambulances — with lights flashing — will make their way east on Fullerton from Halsted and south on Lake Shore Drive to Streeterville.

As many as 200 Children’s Memorial Hospital patients could make the trip.

If you’re going to be driving in Lincoln Park, it might be a good idea to steer clear of the hospital Saturday.

Fullerton Avenue will be closed to traffic at Lincoln and Halsted to Lake Shore Drive. That means drivers won’t be able to exit or enter Lake Shore Drive at Fullerton until the move is complete.

All the same, the goal is to be “minimally disruptive to the community,” said Maureen Mahoney, who is overseeing the hospital move.

No part of Lake Shore Drive will be closed off to traffic Saturday, but cones will be in place on the on-ramp to the Drive at Fullerton.

In Streeterville, there will be no street parking on Chicago Avenue from the new Lurie Children’s Hospital to Lake Shore Drive.
