KENT COUNTY, Mich. — Several municipalities are banding together to develop performance standards for area ambulance providers.
East Grand Rapids, Grand Rapids, Grandville, Kentwood, Rockford, Wyoming and Plainfield Township are forming an emergency medical services consortium with plans to put ambulance services under contract. Contracts are expected to be drafted during the first half of 2014.
By getting performance guarantees from private ambulance firms, the communities may be able to fine-tune deployment of their own medical first responders.
