KENT COUNTY, Mich. — Two people in an SUV died after a three-vehicle collision involving the SUV, an ambulance and a semi-truck on 14 Mile Road NE.

The crash happened about 2:45 p.m. Friday, Dec. 30 on 14 Mile Road NE near Lappley Avenue.

The ambulance was not carrying any patients and two staff in the ambulance had minor injuries.

State police said the victims were a couple from Greenville.

Police said the SUV was going east on 14 Mile Road and had slowed to turn left onto Lappley Avenue when the semi-truck struck the SUV from behind. The impact pushed the SUV into the opposing lane and it struck an ambulance.

The ambulance then overturned.

The semi-truck driver also had minor injuries.
