KOKOMO, Ind. — A crash Wednesday involving a Community Howard Regional Health ambulance left a Kokomo woman in serious but stable condition.
At approximately 12:21 a.m., Kokomo Police officers responded to an accident near Lincoln Road and Washington Street. According to a press release, the ambulance was on a non-emergency run heading south on Washington Street.
A 1997 Pontiac driven by Heather Serra, 31, was traveling west on Lincoln Road when Serra disregarded a traffic signal and collided with the ambulance, police reported.
Serra was airlifted from the scene to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. Ambulance personnel received minor injuries and were treated on the scene and later at Community Howard.
