FOND DU LAC, Wis. — One person was killed and four more were injured, including two EMS providers and a patient, after an ambulance crash in Wisconsin on Tuesday.
The Fond du Lac Fire Rescue ambulance was transporting a patient when it was struck by a car at an intersection, according to WBAY.
A passenger in the car was ejected and later died from his injuries. The driver of the car was pinned and needed to be extricated, fire officials said. He was flown to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Two EMS providers and the patient in the ambulance sustained minor injuries in the crash.
The Wisconsin State Patrol is investigating the crash. Officials said a preliminary investigation showed that the car ran a red light before striking the ambulance.
