CPR Turns 50 This Year! Help Celebrate a Half-Century of Saving Lives!

The San Francisco Paramedic Association, the City and County of San Francisco, the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Association, the American Heart Association and the Heart Safe Region Task Force are working to improve the survival rate from cardiac arrest in the Bay Area. In observance of National CPR & AED Awareness week, we will present various events throughout the Bay Area on Tuesday, June 1, 2010. We anticipate training more than 500 people on this day in the lifesaving techniques of CPR. Our goal is to make a Bay Area-wide impact and garner significant media attention for this vital, life saving skill.

The following counties are planning events on that date: San Francisco, San Mateo, Alameda, Contra Costa, Santa Clara and Marin. Check back for further info!

In San Francisco, we will be presenting a free, mass “Sidewalk CPR” training event at City Hall on June 1st from 11-1 (rain or shine). Our volunteer instructors will train the public in CPR, AED and choke saving. There will be a press conference at 10:00 am and a “Celebrity CPR” competition! MC Lars, the AHA’s Be the Beat Rapper, will perform as well.

We look forward to seeing you there!
