RIVERDALE, Utah — A medical helicopter clipped a street sign with its rotor during a hard landing in Utah on Monday.
The University of Utah AirMed helicopter was responding to a victim of an interstate rollover.
The driver of the vehicle was badly injured and trapped in his truck, which prompted firefighters to call for a medical helicopter to respond, according to KSTU.
Witnesses say during the landing, the copter rose about 10 feet and almost tipped over on its side.
The pilot immediately killed the engine, and paramedics decided to transport the crash victim by ambulance, according to KSTU.
The helicopter needed to be transported by flatbed for repairs, according to The Associated Press.
Police say the truck driver is in stable condition. The pilot, nurse and paramedic inside the helicopter weren’t injured.
