NEW YORK — The city’s Emergency Medical Services command experienced a severe backlog in answering 911 calls as a result of the icy conditions Sunday, with hundreds of callers waiting to report issues, FDNY sources said.
At least 660 calls were on hold by the afternoon, the sources said.
The frigid weather also led to numerous MTA bus accidents, as service was not canceled despite the slippery roads, another source said.
