Bringing CPR to your local community

Contributed by: EMS1 Staff

Patients who have survived cardiac arrest must endure a difficult process toward recovery and rehabilitation in order to improve their overall physical, mental and social functioning. The goal is to stabilize, slow, or even reverse the progression of cardiovascular disease, thus reducing the risk of another cardiac event.

However, many of these patients continue to be at risk after the first incident. That’s why it is important for family members of these patients to learn proper CPR techniques in the event of a cardiac emergency in the home.

Try partnering up with your local cardiac rehab center or hospital facility in order to implement a CPR education class in your community. A program such as this can prove to be a live-or-death difference for a patient who has already suffered from cardiac arrest.
