U-turn for the OB patient

Contributed by: Robert Bryant
Rank: Paramedic
Department: Trinity County Life Support, CA

If you have an OB patient about to deliver, do a U-Turn and put the patient backwards on the gurney.

By placing their head at the "foot" of the gurney, this allows you to work out of the captain's chair and gives you more room.

The hardest part of doing this is getting your partner to place the patient in this position. Old habits are hard to break and it may feel odd, but once in the truck you will find it much easier to deliver that new baby.
