OKMULGEE, Okla. — No charges will be filed in a May physical confrontation between a state trooper and a paramedic in Okfuskee County.

Max Cook, district attorney for Creek and Okfuskee counties, issued a statement Friday saying that after reviewing reports and talking to witnesses, it would not be appropriate to file charges against either the tropper, Daniel Martin, or the paramedic, Maurice White Jr.

"Although I do not condone their actions, I do not believe that filing charges at this time would serve the best interests of the public or the interests of justice," Cook said in the statement. "It has been my experience that emergency service providers generally work well together and it was disappointing to see a situation where that clearly did not happen."
