SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — A 7-year-old boy has been struck by an ambulance in central Illinois and has life-threatened injuries.
Springfield police Lt. Kenny Winslow says the unidentified child was riding a bicycle about 8:30 p.m. Saturday when the ambulance struck him, throwing him from the bike.
A hospital spokeswoman says the child is being treated in an emergency room.
Winslow says the ambulance was not responding to an emergency. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
