Deer falls from overpass onto minivan full of kids

Nobody was injured when the animal crashed through a mother’s windshield as she was cruising along at 70 mph

CHICAGO — A deer fell from a highway overpass, and landed on top of a minivan filled with kids as Heidi Conner cruised along at 70 mph.

It’s as though the animal fell from the sky, she told CBS Chicago.

“I’m driving, everything was fine,” Conner said. “Boom, and I have a deer lying next to me in my car.”

The female deer crashed through the windshield after either jumping or falling off the Illinois 72 overpass onto 1-90. Despite the impact, Conner was able to safely steer the van through three lanes of traffic.

“If it had been one inch to the left, it would have been dead center,” she said. “I wouldn’t have been able to control the car. And one inch to the right, it would have killed my son.”

Nobody in the car was hurt. Conner suffered a sore shoulder and some bumps and bruises
