Video: Medics, police rush to officer's side after exchange of gunfire

Police were pursuing the suspect in relation to a drug case

FORT WORTH, Texas  — John Bell, a 21-year veteran of the Fort Worth Police Department, was still in serious condition Wednesday evening, 24 hours after exchanging gunfire with a man who was fleeing from police.

The suspect was identified by the medical examiner's office as Cody Loron, 31.

Officer Bell was struck three times, according to sources, and remained in serious condition at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth.
