Elderly couple survives bear attack

The couple was out on a walk when they came upon the bear and its cubs

By EMS1 Staff

KIMBERLY, British Columbia — The hunt is on for a bear that attacked and injured an elderly couple that were out on a walk.

The woman was walking in front of her husband when she came upon a bear and cubs that were gathered near a dead deer, according to CNN.

The bear started to attack the woman, and while her husband tried to help her, it began attacking him before turning his attention back to the woman.

Somehow, the couple was able to fight the bear off, with it eventually leaving them alone.

The husband is in his 80s and his wife is in her 60s. Both were rushed to the hospital where they are in stable condition, suffering bites to the arms, legs and head.

It is believed the bear was a grizzly or black bear that was gathering food for its hibernation
