Newborn baby declared dead, later found alive

It's not known what role, if any, hypothermia played in the case

CBC News

TORONTO — A Toronto hospital will undertake a review of its procedures after a newborn baby girl was declared dead and left under a sheet, despite the fact that the infant was actually alive.

The call for a review comes just a day after a Toronto mother went into labour and gave birth outdoors while walking to Humber River Regional Hospital on Sunday morning.

Steve Henderson Steve Henderson Saturday, February 23, 2013 1:15:52 PM This is a hospital issue and not an EMS issue. Toronto EMS is assisting with the ongoing investigation by the hospital and Ministry of Health.
Kirsten Houseknecht Kirsten Houseknecht Saturday, February 23, 2013 7:24:10 PM geesh, I just HANG AROUND with EMS folks and I knew the "they are not dead until they are warm and dead" mantra.. and this is TORONTO? I wonder sometimes whether its really stupidity or they just figured the poor girl's baby wasnt worth it.
