Woman in labor sleds to hospital

She was placed in a luggage carrier and pulled by her neighbors

By James Nye
Daily Mail

NAUGATUCK, Conn. — Neighbors in a blizzard affected Connecticut town used a little improvisation to get a pregnant woman in labor to hospital with only one hour to spare.

Naugatuck resident, Lauri Wood, 42, went into labor with her fifth child on Sunday morning - but the blizzard from the day before had buried the family car in three feet of snow and all roads out were impassable. But then, her husband James and four of his friends clubbed together and decided to make a makeshift sled out of a car luggage carrier to Lauri across the snow to get to a clear road.

'I was in the bathroom crying. I said I'm not getting in this. This is insane, this is ridiculous,' said Lauri Wood to NBC News.
