Fla. family upset over medics' delayed response

Paramedics told to wait for police assistance before helping man who passed out

WESH

OCALA, Fla. — Members of one Ocala family said they were upset to learn that paramedics were told to wait for police assistance before responding to their home, where someone had passed out.

Bobby's daughter said the family called 911 and said the call was frantic. Shalita Davis said she called 911 repeatedly until the family noticed a rescue vehicle had arrived — but it was parked at the end of the street.

"The dispatcher told them that it was a domestic dispute and that it was an unsafe area," Shalita said.
