Paramedic, patient killed in Del. ambulance crash

Searching for survivors after quake

A patient and paramedic died Tuesday morning in an ambulance crash in Sussex County, Delaware.

According to police, the three-member ambulance crew had just picked up patient Betty J. Hickman, 82, and was enroute to the hospital. A deer entered the roadway and the ambulance driver maneuvered to try avoiding the animal. Hickman and paramedic Stephanie L. Callaway, 31, died in the crash ... Full Story

"How about touching on the issue of the "macho" male management personnel who still have trouble with women in the fire and EMS service? They are still out there and I'm not just talking about those well past retirement age gents. The ones I'm referring to are those on the fire lines now and also those in the ranks of management who go out of their way to convey the disdain they have toward women."
