Swift responses save lives, but San Francisco's ambulances and fire engines are often late to the scene.

An investigation of the city's 911 dispatch system found that 27 percent of first responders arrive late on the scene of high-priority medical emergencies — increasing the medical risks to the stricken. Many of the delays are the result of slow processing of 911 calls ... Full Story

"Sorry to say it, but companies like AMR are the main cause of inequality in the firehouse. There are plenty of great AMR medics, but AMR in general looks at profit before people. Also, AMR treats its employees like children and not the respected men and women that they are. They look at everything from a "marketing" angle. Fact is, these factors not only cause firefighters to distance themselves, but also cause AMR paramedics to look at themselves in a different light."
