Dear EMS1 Member:

As we reach the sixth anniversary of Sept. 11, we at EMS1 would like to take a moment to thank you for your dedication to the EMS profession. The memories of that terrible, life-altering day may have dulled slightly with time, but the mark left by 9/11 on our profession — as well as our world — is as vivid as ever.

We resolve to always remember the dedicated responders who died in the line of duty that day, as well as those still irreparably affected by it, either through lingering health effects from Ground Zero or the pain of having lost a loved one. As long as we continue to learn from the lessons of 9/11, their sacrifices will not have been in vain.

Your Next Employee May Be Unlike Anything You Have Seen Before
Everywhere I go, I hear the people talk about how "today’s employees just don’t care," or "today’s employees just don't have the work ethic we used to." A friend of mine sold his ambulance company in the mid-nineties and started over again several years ago. After his first year back in the business he said to me, "Steve, everyone thought I was a hard-ass the first time, but in this last year I have fired more people then I ever ... Full Column

With health and emergency preparedness issues still lingering in the minds of first responders and their families, the entire nation takes a moment of silence to honor the nearly 3,000 people who have lost their lives during and after Sept. 11, 2001.

''Where were you when the first airplane crashed into the twin towers? Is there a paramedic or firefighter you would like to honor? Please share your Sept. 11 stories or honor the memory of a loved one.''
