PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. — A paramedic delivered a baby girl at a fire station this morning, just minutes after the mother and grandmother wheeled into the station driveway honking the car horn, fire officials said.

Paramedic Ryan Miller had just arrived at Fire Station #5, 1616 Port St. Lucie Blvd, when he heard the car horn outside around 8:50 a.m., said Catherine Whitaker, spokeswoman for the St. Lucie County Fire District.

All other paramedics at the station were either in training or on a call at the time, said Whitaker.

Miller went to help the pregnant woman.

"In 5 minutes, the baby was delivered," Whitaker said.

A rescue team drove the mother and baby to the St. Lucie Medical Center, where both are doing fine, said Whitaker.
