Amateur video captures chaos of Brazilian nightclub fire

SANTA MARIA, Brazil — Amateur video has surfaced showing scenes of the blaze at the Kiss nightclub in Santa Maria, Brazil. Footage shows shirtless clubgoers running from the club and others lying on the ground as firefighters struggled to rescue people and douse the inferno.
According to MSN News, 232 people died. Many died from smoke inhalation while others were crushed to death during the stampede as people rushed to find the club's emergency exit.
The Examiner reports one survivor said: "People started running. I fell on the floor." According to witnesses, the fire began from the stage and spread up to the ceiling. The footage shows the chaotic rescue scene with firefighters struggling to put out the blaze and rescue as many people as possible.
