Va. firefighter-EMT dies in car crash on way to station

Charles Wilson, 21, of Louisa County Department of Fire and EMS, died from injuries sustained during single-vehicle accident

LOUISA, Va. — A Va. firefighter-EMT died in a car crash en route to his station Thursday.

Charles Wilson, 21, of the Louisa County Department of Fire and EMS, died from injuries sustained during a single-vehicle accident, Chief Keith Greene told WTVR.

"Charlie was deemed the Department's "gentle giant" who always wore a smile regardless of the situation," Chief Greene wrote in a statement. "He has in his jacket, letters of appreciation from the public as well as his coworkers for their appreciation of his acts of kindness, professionalism, and teamwork."

Firefighter Wilson was also a volunteer for Mineral Volunteer Fire, Louisa Volunteer Rescue and Crozier Volunteer Fire, according to WWBT.
