Duty Death: Peter Carbonneau - [Van Buren, Maine]

VAN BUREN, Maine — A paramedic and volunteer firefighter died Sunday while completing duties at his Maine station.

Peter Carbonneau, 51, a 27-year veteran of Van Buren Ambulance who had also given 24 years to volunteering with the Van Buren Fire Department, succumbed to apparent illness, according to the Fiddlehead Focus.

Fellow EMS personnel tried to revive him, but he was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Carbonneau had been assistant director and director of the ambulance service.

"People that knew Peter are all taking it very hard. Going to be taking it hard for a long time," fellow providers told the Fiddlehead Focus. "Everybody loved Peter."
