Man thrown from bike, killed by van

The motorcyclist was struck by a car, thrown onto the highway and seconds later hit by a van

Tampa Bay Times

LAKE MARY, Fla. — Authorities are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash near Orlando involving a car registered to a Seffner man.

Keenan Huff, 42, of Brightwood, Va., was riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle west on Interstate 4 about 1:10 a.m. Sunday when a car changed lanes and struck the bike, throwing Huff onto the highway, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Moments later, Huff was run over by a 2004 Toyota van driven by Rohan Vickramasinghe, 45, of Ontario, Canada, the patrol said. Huff died at the scene.

Authorities said the car, a 1998 Saturn, was found abandoned on the side of the road about half a mile away. The patrol identified the owner as Victor Eusebio Salinas of Seffner and said Sunday afternoon that he had hired an attorney and declined to speak with investigators.

As police investigated the crash, another crash occurred when a 2009 Volkswagen struck an unoccupied Lake Mary police cruiser with its emergency lights on, sitting in the left lane. The Volkswagen's driver, Tracey Flood, 41, was ticketed for careless driving, the patrol said.
