EMS1 invites all EMS providers from across the nation to submit a short, original story for the second annual Excellence in EMS Award contest from March 1 - April 30 (deadline extended). Submitted stories should exemplify this year's EMS Week theme, “A Proud Partner in Your Community.” Whether you write an original short story, touching tribute or thought-provoking essay, we want to hear about how you've partnered or worked with groups in your community, or how you plan on doing so in the coming year. The Excellence in EMS Award contest is open to all legal residents of the United States, who are currently employed as a paramedic, EMT-I, EMT-B, OR who are employed by an EMS, Fire/EMS, or first responder departments, private or volunteer. Read more details

Submit a short, original story no longer than 750 wordsonline or via email. Winning submissions will feature solid structure and grammar, a strong writing style, and an interesting topic matter that exemplifies the award theme. The deadline is April 20. A panel of industry judges will pick the best stories and a winner will be announced during EMS Week 2009 (May 17-23).
