She's Giving Me Good Vibrations: Caring for Pediatric Seizures
In this session, the participant will learn about the two most common categories of seizure -- febrile and chronic -- and how to differentiate between the two. Knowing which seizure type is presenting in this patient can increase the quality of care provided to the child and their parent of caregiver. Creating an efficient and effective process to assess and treat the victim of a seizure increases the child's potential for a rapid return to their normal state. The session also emphasizes the critical provisions of care including A,B,C's which translates to Airway, Breathing, Circulation, and suction.

In this session, the participant will learn about caring for the ill or injured child with the assistance of the primary caregiver: the parent, a sibling, a grandparent, or other responsible person. The concept of Family Centered Care focuses on utilizing the family member's knowledge about the pediatric patient, which is invaluable and a lost resource if not tapped into early. Knowing the child's medical history, whether or not they have allergies, and whether or not they have a chronic condition are but a few of the information nuggets that can significantly increase the quality of care being provided and ultimately improve the medical outcomes for our young patients.
