Aussie medic forced to use taxi to get to heart patient

QUEENSLAND, Australia — An ambulance officer has used a taxi to get to a patient suffering a cardiac arrest on Queensland's Sunshine Coast.

The union representing the state's paramedics says the incident happened on Saturday night, during a period of extreme workload and there were no available ambulances to take him.

State organiser Jason Dutton says it is indicative of the huge demand for services in the region and he expects it will happen again.
